OnePlus 3T vs OnePlus 3 | Tech specs and Review.

The upgraded OnePlus 3T has been given a price hike in comparison to OnePlus 3.In this post, we will see the major differences between the new OnePlus 3T and OnePlus 3 depending on which you can take a call to either wait for the upgraded version or go with the original model.

Processor: One of the biggest differences between the OnePlus 3T and OnePlus 3 (Review) is in terms of processor. To recall, the OnePlus 3 came powered with quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC coupled with Adreno 530 GPU and 6GB of RAM. The all-new OnePlus 3T packs the upgraded quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 SoC coupled with Adreno 530 and 6GB of RAM. To be specific, the new Snapdragon 821 SoC on the OnePlus 3T comes with two cores clocked at 1.6GHz and two cores clocked at 2.35GHz.

Storage: One of the biggest qualms with the original OnePlus 3 was the limited 64GB inbuilt storage, which is non-expandable. It seems the company has definitely acknowledged user complaints and has introduced a larger 128GB storage model. The OnePlus 3T comes in both 64GB and 128GB storage models, compared to just a 64GB model on the OnePlus 3.

Camera: While the OnePlus 3T packs the same 16-megapixel rear camera featuring Sony IMX298 sensor, PDAF (phase detection autofocus), and 4K video recording as seen on the OnePlus 3, the Chinese company has bumped up the front camera on the 3T. It ships with 16-megapixel front camera with a Samsung 3P8SP sensor.

Battery: The OnePlus 3T will also ship with a larger 3400mAh battery compared to the 3000mAh battery seen on the OnePlus 3. With the bumped up battery size, the OnePlus 3T looks to take on the likes of other premium handsets including Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge with 3600mAh and Google Pixel XL with 3450mAh. The OnePlus 3T will again support Dash Charge (5V 4A) fast charging technology.

As you can probably see, the two phones are very similar aside from a few key differences. The biggest one? Probably the fact that the OnePlus 3T features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor instead of the Snapdragon 820 found on the OnePlus 3. You might be wondering how much of a difference this makes in real life, and that’s a fair question.

Turns out, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 is really just an overclocked version of the 820. What this means is that it runs at a higher frequency and thus can process more in a shorter amount of time. According to Qualcomm, the 821 offers a 10-percent increase in performance over the 820, which gives phones equipped with the new chip a slight edge. It won’t make a major difference when it comes to performance, but power-hungry users will likely notice the difference between the two chips. If you have a phone with a Snapdragon 820, however, there’s really no need to upgrade.

Features of the OnePlus 3T

The OnePlus 3T also boasts an extra storage option. Now, instead of being stuck with 64GB of storage, you can opt for 128GB. Most people probably won’t need that much storage, especially the more cloud-savvy users, but having the option is certainly nice.

The upgraded processor and additional storage option represent the only big differences in the performance department. Both phones still sport 6GB of RAM, which is great considering the fact that 6GB is well ahead of most flagships. The OnePlus 3T has a slight edge here, though.

Winner: OnePlus 3T
